Over the past few weeks, I’ve been doing a lot of reflecting. Reflecting on what I love about my job, what I want to do more of, less of, and most importantly, where I feel I can make my best contribution and provide the most value. I totally believe that when we’re working in our zone of genius, we’re not only providing the world with something beautiful, powerful, positive, and impactful, but we’re happier and more fulfilled.
I got to thinking about what that means for me and spoke to a few trusted people to get some feedback. Two themes emerged. I love creating and deepening connection and I love listening to people and helping people (especially women) solve problems.
So I have made it my mission in 2024 to dedicate more time doing those two things.
The first way I’m doing that is by enhancing this Substack. I dabbled with this platform last fall, but I’m really going to go all in this year. When you subscribe, you’ll get 2 newsletters a month, one pertaining to my personal life and the other pertaining to my professional life. It will tackle topics like: what I’m currently up against, learning, thinking, feeling, my dating life (I’m single, but hoping that won’t always be the case), I’m thinking about having a baby, what I’m wearing, listening to, watching, creating, my highs and lows.
Because I’m going to get personal and really let you behind the curtain, this is a paid subscription. You’re all invited, but I only want you here if you really want to be here, part of this community. I am hoping this will be a dialogue. I genuinely want to hear from you and connect with you!
So if that sounds like something you’re into, subscribe below and you’ll get the first edition! As a thank you, I’m going to send the first 100 subscribers a $25 gift card to Abby Alley!
Xo,

Without further ado, here’s Volume I:
What I’m Up Against
Ever since I turned 40 last July, I’ve been thinking about having a baby. As my birthday approached I thought a lot about what I want this decade to be and quickly realized that it has to be the decade I have children, if I want to. I always assumed I’d have kids, and assumed I’d surely have them before I turned 40, but here I am: single, no children and 40. It’s not what I thought, but the amazing thing is, women are in a position we’ve never been in in the history of humans. We can have a baby without a man (or without being in a relationship with one, I should say). Isn’t that empowering? We don’t have to wait. We can choose. I’m currently working with a fertility specialist and looking into sperm donors, but haven’t decided anything yet. There’s a lot to consider! The more I’ve started sharing this with people in my life, the more I’ve been connected to women who have been or are on this journey. I had no idea how many women are doing this! I’ll keep you posted. :)
