I’m going to start in reverse today and save the personal stuff for the end.
What I’m Wearing: 10 Things for April
April is a pretty uninspiring month for style (in my opinion). In Chicago, it is usually still cold enough that I need a jacket or sweater or both, and truth be told, I just want to be done with all of that and get to my summer clothes and summer weather. So here are my top 10 things to make April feel fresh! As always, I try to highlight brands that I know share my values and also share pieces I actually wear and love.
Trench Coat: I just ordered this really classic trench and can’t wait to see how it fits.
Sunglasses: I recently lost my favorite sunglasses so needed a replacement pair. I’m trying these out. They just arrived and I think they’re going to be great!
I just put on my red Mary Jane shoes this week and it made me smile. I haven’t jumped on the mesh train yet, but these are very cute!
Off white/ cream denim: I have these and love them.
I love the idea of pulling midi skirts and to pair with the sweaters you’re probably getting sick of wearing the same way or putting a sweater over a dress to kind of blend winter/summer together for those 55-65 degree days.
If I’ve posted about this button down once, I’ve posted about it 10 times. I love it. Every time.
Basket Tote: I’m so excited about the Basket Tote that we made with Natalie Borton, and love mixing the natural fibers with layers this time of year. It launches this week!
Clogs: I’m excited to bring back out my favorite clogs - perfect for this in between weather.
Fresh black t-shirt: I tend to hold on to things like t-shirts for years - and by years I sometimes mean decades. Sometimes it’s just time to get a new one!
Linen trousers: I just ordered these. Wishful thinking on my part as far as the weather, but I’m excited to get them and wear them all summer!
What I’m Reading/Listening to/Watching
I just finished Winter Garden by Kristin Hannah and it is by far the best book I’ve read this year. Now I want to research everything on Russia/ the Soviet Union! I have also loved Nightingale and Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah - she really knows how to tell a captivating story.
The Atlantic came out with a piece about a week ago on the ongoing struggle between the Tanzanian government and the Maasai people who have lived for centuries on land in and around the Serengeti. Well worth the read.
Brene Brown recently brought back her podcast, Unlocking Us, and I loved the first episode back with Esther Perel. Two of my absolute favorites.
I finished season 1 of Severance and I really liked it - can’t wait for season 2!
