It’s already that time again - time to go back to Scotland! This is the trip my family had planned last year before I met my Scottish man. :)
The main reason for this trip is to play golf, which I’m pretty excited about, but I’m also really looking forward to seeing the Highlands, Inverness, St. Andrews, and more of Edinburgh. I’ll share some photos and highlights once I’m back, but for now I wanted to share with you what I’m packing. I am planning on only bringing a carryon and putting my golf gear in my golf bag. We are going to be there for 8 days, for reference. Most of the items you see below are in my summer capsule.
Here are 3 packing tips:
Packing cubes are a life saver both in saving space and keeping myself organized while bopping from hotel to hotel. And of course, I’m not afraid to repeat an outfit. :)
Try everything on or at least lay everything out so you can make sure each top goes with each bottom, creating maximum versatility. I learned this from my friend Conni who packed in a carryon for our trip to Kenya!
Shoes are usually the hardest part because they take up so much room. If you can, wear your bulkiest shoes on the plane. Ditch the heels you’ll only wear with one outfit (unless you have a specific event to go to) and bring a pair of elevated sandals that can go from day to night.
Scotland’s climate is a bit unpredictable. It looks like it will be in the 60s with a chance of rain some days. So even if you’re not going to Scotland, feel free to use this if you’re somewhere with a similar climate!
Here are the links to everything I’m packing if it’s helpful, but in all likelihood, you have everything you need already in your closet:
Olive Denim (on sale!)
Blue Denim (mine are sold out but these are a similar straight leg vibe)
French Blue Sling Bag (any color would work, but since most of the clothes I’m bringing are very neutral, so I thought this blue would be a nice added element)
Black Cashmere Shrunken Cardigan
Gray Cashmere Sweater (mine is from Ryan Roche and doesn’t exist anymore, but the one I linked is very similar…and this one from Buck Mason is not cashmere but looks like a great summer sweater!)
Black Jumpsuit (the one I am bringing is not made anymore, but I have this one too and it is super comfortable, but if I didn’t have a jumpsuit, I’d bring these drawstring pants - great for wearing on the plane!)
Ivory Sandals (very comfortable to walk in)
Sneakers (I might bring these instead - game time decision)
A few other things:
I’ll bring PJs of course
If I have enough room I’m going to throw in one or two t-shirts in case it’s warm enough to not wear a sweater, but not warm enough for a tank.
My raincoat will be my outerwear (other than sweaters). Not the most fashionable, but definitely functional!
I’ll be wearing the jumpsuit, cream cardigan, and Birkenstocks (with compression socks) as my plane outfit. Easy to sleep in, very comfortable, but not sloppy. A jumpsuit might be controversial for travel because of the bathroom situation, but for me not having a waistband is worth it. :)
Very helpful! Have a great trip:)
