For Him
This is always the hardest category for me. Whenever I choose my dad in our family Secret Santa, I panic a little. But this year I enlisted Tom to help curate this list, so I’m feeling really good about it. :)
Tom’s Top Picks (written by Tom): I recently bought this coffee bean grinder and truly love it. I make Abby and myself a cappuccino/ flat white every morning and grinding our own beans ends up saving money in the long run.
I included a range finder on this list as well if you are shopping for a golfer. I bought this one last year for Abby’s sister and it’s great. Unless you’re Tiger Woods, you probably don’t need anything fancier than this.
These beer glasses were gifted to me last year by my brother-in-law and I use them ever time I have a beer. In the UK our beer glasses have what we call surgers at the bottom, which keep the beer fizzy. For some reason the US doesn’t seem to do this and it has always bothered me. Kyle tracked some down and I’m so glad he did. I’ve converted him too - the beer is just better this way.
I am pretty picky about clothes and when I find something I like, I tend to keep going back to the well for more. That might be boring, but I’m guessing lots of men can relate. My personal favorite store to shop for clothes is Uniqlo and I’ve listed their t-shirts (the only ones I wear because they aren’t thin and flimsy) and their seamless puffer coat, which I just got to survive my first Chicago winter. So far so good.
These are the slippers I have and they are 10/10. Very cozy and great quality.
Socks might be boring, but Bombas are really nice. Abby turned me onto these, but I don’t love spending that much on socks, so they’re kind of the perfect gift.
Last but not least, I added my watch. A nice watch is always a great gift. I’m not one for anything flashy or one of the top name brands. This one is great because it’s nice, but I can still wear it everyday.
Abby’s Picks:
Ok I had to jump in and round out the list! My picks are all things I’m considering getting Tom!
In the clothing department, I am obsessed with this brand and the look of the Merino Deck sweater. I love that the neck isn’t too much of a turtleneck but still has that feel. I also love a classic cable knit sweater and this cozy sweater - Tom needs some warm things for his first Chicago winter. :) We got an LL Bean catalog in the mail and as I was flipping through it, Tom pointed to this fleece and said he liked it - so it’s on the list. And rounding out the clothing category are this waffle shirt (great for layering or lounging) and rugby shirt. I love henley/ half-zip/half-button look, if that’s the right term.
Ok, onto outerwear. Tom literally doesn’t have anything in this department after spending the last 3 winters in Florida. As he mentioned, he just bought a puffer coat, but I think he may want a dressier coat at some point too…I can see him in this one. A cashmere scarf is a great staple and gloves you can still use your phone with are a must.
Let’s move on to shoes and accessories. Sticking with the theme of getting Tom through his first Chicago winter, I’m thinking he needs a pair of boots. These are classic and functional. I linked three belts with differing styles and price points. A nice belt is such a great gift - it feels like something you put off getting for yourself but when you get an upgrade it makes all the difference. I gifted the St. Andrews Smathers and Branson belt to my brother-in-law last year (because we had recently played golf there) and he loved it - I was so glad!
A few things for travel: a great duffle, a quality wash bag, and this retractable charger that I’m going to get for myself!
Three really cool final things to round out the list: this yeti shaker, this smashburger griddle (such a great idea!), and really cute vintage golf club bottle openers.
Little Luxuries: Gifts Under $50
This was a really fun category to put together! These gifts are perfect for friends, co-workers, stocking stuffers, and white elephant gifts.
I was in Denver earlier this fall and my hands were so dry. I immediately wished I had brought hand lotion with me. Having nice lotion just feels like a little luxury that goes a long way!
I found fun straws to make iced coffees or smoothies more fun and the perfect mug for your favorite Swiftie.
A marble wine coaster - so chic, a gorgeous wall calendar, scented paper (new to me!), and scented matches would be so fun to get.
My favorite Salt & Stone body wash (they are having a good sale) and two most favorite lip balms ever.
A disposable camera is the coolest gift. We had a polaroid camera at our wedding and it’s so fun to have printed pics!
These Blissy products I own and love…and while you’re on their site, get the pillowcase too. They are the best and good for your hair and skin. Speaking of hair, these claw clips are so chic.
A lemon wedge bottle opener, the coolest fruit and veggie candles (so many fun options!), and saving one of the best for last…a retractable phone cord…which I’m buying for everyone I know. Perfect for traveling and throwing in your bag!
