Happy New Year, Friends! This time of year is always such a push and pull for me of two very different energies. After the holidays I just want to slow down, take time to really reflect, and effectively hibernate. But at the same time, I love the turn to a fresh page and get excited about what a new year may hold. There’s space for both!
2025 was probably my favorite year of life so far because I married the love of my life. I’ve never been more grateful! Not to mention my first niece was born and my other sister got engaged! Here’s a little best of 2025 in photos - excluding my niece because I don’t want to put her sweet face on the internet. :)
Speaking of the best of the year…I was on the plane coming home from Naples and thinking about 2025 in terms of my style and what I loved wearing. I took out my phone and in my notes app, made a quick list of my favorite piece in each category, so I thought I’d share! For some of these categories, it was really hard to choose just one, but I tried to stick to my rules. :)
Other than it just being a fun exercise, I think the benefit of doing this is clarity about what you’re bringing into the new year. Think of it as a starting point for where you want your style to begin in 2026. Everything I mentioned above, I am thrilled to wear in 2026, and know I don’t need to add anything like it this year. We’re always evolving…so it’s good to take stock of what we still love and what feels like doesn’t fit (physically or emotionally).
Best Tank: Almina Concept Scoop Neck (I have it in black and beige). The fit and feel is absolutely perfect. My runner up is the Sold Out NYC racer back.
Best Tee: The Sold Out NYC linen tee is the winner because I love the relaxed fit and lightweight fabric. I really don’t like when my tee shirts feel like they are tight under my armpits if that makes sense, and this one feels really good. My runner up is the Leset Margo tee. It’s kind of the perfect white tee.
Best Long Sleeve: I’m seeing a bit of a pattern here…but the Sold Out NYC turtleneck is my go-to. There really isn’t a close second.
Best Button Up: This is a tough one! The overall winner has to be the Jo Shirt from Alex Mill, but for anything but a Chicago winter, the Kyoto Shirt from Mirth is a must.
Best Pants: This one is easy - the Ricky Pants from Ralph Lauren. I have them in white and olive. I sized up in white for a more relaxed fit. Runner up are the Leigh Pants from Vincent James.
Best Denim: Another tough one because there are so many different styles of denim. If I look back through my pics at what I wore most, the Sonia from Amo Denim are at the top. I love how they fit - just the perfect amount of stretch without bagging out. Runner up would be the Field Pants from Ozma.
Best Sandal: Easily the Jamie Haller slides that aren’t on the website right now. I’m sure they will be back this spring.
Best Dress: The one that came to my mind instantly is the Mirth Zuma Dress.
Best Sweater: Another one that feels impossible because I love my sweaters. But I’d have to say the Jenni Kayne Thatcher Cardigan is a stunner. It’s currently sold out, but sign up for notifications - I’m sure it will be back. Runner up is the Mata Traders Cashmere. I really like the weight and style. I sized up in this one.
Best Bag: For sure my most worn bag is our Sling Bag - this year I probably wore our Chocolate Suede and Sand Suede the most. Runner up is our Soirée Bag. It’s been so nice to not worry about what clutch/bag I’m taking to a wedding or nicer event!
Best for the Home: Because we got married, we got some amazing gifts - major upgrades - so it’s hard to pick one thing, but I’m going to say our new Caraway pans are at the top of the list.
