It’s been quite a week! I’m all moved into our new ABBY ALLEY studio space, we got the keys to our new condo, got the place painted, packed up our current condo (movers come Monday), and we’re in Denver for my cousin’s wedding this weekend! To add to the drama, I got a flat tire on the way to the airport yesterday. Thankfully, my sister’s boyfriend came to my rescue and changed it to the spare tire, and we all still made it in time for our flight!
The idea for this post came earlier this week when I was thinking about what I wanted to pack for this weekend. Two of the three pants I’m going to share are with me in Denver.
I should start this one by saying, I love jeans. I love the different washes, different styles, and how comfortable they are. And normally I would say 9 times out of 10, I’m probably wearing them. But lately, I’ve been really loving three pairs of pants (that aren’t denim) and wearing them each at least once a week. So I thought I’d share them because when you find a good thing, you want to share!
1. The Ricky Pant
I first saw these pants on Amber Lewis, who said they were the best, and I thought they were really cute. Amber was right! I love these pants so much that I have them in two colors (olive and ecru). They are the epitome of comfort and made from 100% cotton. When denim has no stretch (elastane) in them I get worried that it will take a long time to wear them in, but these pants feel like pajamas. They feel like they have stretch somehow!
I got the ecru color first and ordered both my regular size and a size up because white pants tend to fit differently for some reason. They both fit, which was a nice problem to have, but ultimately I kept the larger size because I wanted a really relaxed fit with these. I loved them so much I used them in our chocolate suede photo shoot!
Late in the summer I knew I wanted to get a pair of olive pants for fall so I came back to the Ricky Pants! I decided to get the olive color in my true size and they are feeling great. They hit just above the ankle, but I’m a little short, so I sometimes cuff mine depending on the shoe. The olive is a great color for fall, but I imagine I’ll be wearing these a lot in the spring too.
2. The Aurora Pants
If we were doing one of those “would you rather” questions about fashion and the question was would you rather wear sweatpants and sneakers or a dress and heels everyday, my answer would 100% be sweatpants and sneakers. And these pants feel like the equivalent. They actually remind me of something Rachel from Friends would have worn or maybe did wear. I love that they are drawstring. I love the material. I love the deep navy color (looks so good with brown, green, blue, red, black, white/cream, etc).
I came across these pants for the first time on Moikh Dale, who has great style in my opinion. I really loved them paired with a buttery yellow tube top she had on and I thought - oh these will be versatile. I’m so glad I got them because I wear them a ton and my husband compliments them every time!
3. The Leigh Pants
It’s no secret that Vincent James is one of my favorite brands. The VJ pieces I have serve as key foundations to my wardrobe and are some of my most worn items in my closet. The Leigh Pants (I think I actually have an earlier version of them, but they are about the same - or if anything even better now!) are just the best. If there ever was a pair of pants that makes you feel as chic as Gwyneth Paltrow while feeling like you’re in sweats, it’s these.
I wear them in the summer with flip flops, in the fall with sneakers and clogs, and in the winter with boots. They are great for travel and for uncertain temps. I brought them with me to Denver to wear to the rehearsal dinner last night. They are just plain great!
