I LOVE the Olympics. So much. I love the stories of the athletes, the way they prepare for four years (or their entire lives) for this one moment, and the way they show up to meet the moment. I really think sports brings out the best in us and I am soaking it in!
George is literally me wishing I could still be an Olympian. :)
Some of the stories I’ve been loving/following so far:
Obviously Simone Biles and women’s gymnastics team on their “Redemption Tour.” I loved watching Suni and Jordan Chiles too!
The men’s gymnastics team getting back on the podium after 16 years…and Stephen on the pommel horse!
Watching Sha’Carri and Gabby Thomas run! And how about that photo finish with Noah Lyles and that incredible finish by Cole Hocker int he 1500m!
I’ve been loving getting to know some of the newer members of the US women’s soccer team. Trinity Rodman, Mallory Swanson, and Sophia Smith are so fun to watch. Can’t wait to watch them go for gold!
US women’s field hockey made back in the Olympics after not qualifying in 2020. I played field hockey so this is always one my favorites to watch. :)
Ilona Maher taking over social media and I’m here for it.
I was struck by something one of the US swimmers said in his post-race interviews after winning the silver medal in a relay. He said most people come to the Olympics and don’t walk away with the outcome they wanted…most people walk away motivated for the next. Another way of looking at it is most athletes will leave the Olympics disappointed, not having met their goal. But the swimmer didn’t say disappointed - he said motivated. I think that is such an inspirational perspective on “failing” to meet your goals or not getting the outcome you wanted!
I know I’ve spent too much time considering scenarios where things won’t work out the way I want and consciously or subconsciously letting those negative thoughts infiltrate my actions. The Olympics are such a great reminder to go after the things we want without fear of an unwanted outcome. Not one of those athletes will regret their experience at the Olympics, even if they finished in last place. We only get this one life…so as they say on The Bear, let it rip!
Three Things I’m Loving Lately
Butter Yellow - this is the color of the season in my book. The Donni sweater below was a recent purchase for me. I don’t normally purchase a ton of “summer sweaters,” but I went for this one because I know it will transition well into fall and it’s a timeless cut I’ll have for many, many years.
Lingua Franca Voting Sweatshirts & Tees - no matter where you stand politically, this will be an historic election! Both are linked in the caption below.
Summer Reading - I loved both of the books linked below. Both are easy-breezy, but well-written. Swan Song has more of a mystery unfolding in addition to lots of characters, relationships, and gossip, while Funny Story is more of a quintessential rom-com, in the best way.

I would be remiss if I didn’t tell you about the 30% off sale Mirth is having right now. No codes needed - discount automatically applied at checkout. Mirth is one of my favorite ethical fashion brands so I love sharing about their products! The photos below show the items I have and love and also what I bought in this sale…all linked below the photos. :)

Links Left to right, top to bottom. Most things run true to size. I tend to go with my smaller size if I’m not sure because most things are fairly roomy (the way you want them to be).
This dress is sold out, but if I was purchasing one for a similar occasion I’d go for this one. I wear this dress when I want to look cute, but still be super comfortable.
I wear this dress once a week! Love it! As with all things Mirth, I think the pics on the website don’t do it justice - check out their instagram instead. The olive top on the right is also super cute!
I didn’t pull the trigger on this top, but was close! Feels classic with a unique, modern twist! I really like the sleeve detail.
Same as above! Love this tank. If I’m still thinking about it by the last day of the sale I may have to grab it. :)
I love my Mirth Pants! I have white shown in this photo, but they’re also in the last photo in oatmeal. So, so comfortable!
I bought this top in the sale. I’ve been eyeing this style for awhile now, and glad I finally got it!
I also bought this top in the sale. Pink is not always my color, but I’m excited to try it - something different for me. :)
If you’re thinking about fall, don’t sleep on their knitwear. It’s stunning in person!
And finally, I thought this post from Conni (@artinthefind) was so spot on! As someone who has a hard time finding pants that fit both my waist and my hips (not to mention length), this was good for me to hear!
xo,
Abby
