I was supposed to leave for Naples today (Wednesday the 8th), but of course my travel plans are a bit delayed because of Hurricane Milton. I’m watching it closely to see if I should start my drive tomorrow or Friday. Of course I’m hoping the damage is kept to a minimum for everyone in Florida, especially in the areas where Helene just hit. So in the meantime, let’s talk about something a little lighter…fall fashion.
And specifically knitwear is on my mind. Probably because I’m going to have no use for it in Florida for awhile and it’s my favorite part of fall/winter dressing. Knitwear is an area I don’t skimp on in terms of quality because when you invest in a few key pieces, you’ll love them for years and years and it will be well worth it.
What do I look for? Natural fibers, ethical manufacturing, details in design, and really, really good colors. Not all neutrals are created equally!
I’m going to share a some of my favorite brands, a few favorites from my personal collection, and the sweaters I am drooling over this season. But I’d love to hear your favorites too! Please share in the comments!
Organic John Patrick1: This one is from my personal collection and I can tell you it is the perfect shade of olive. They are calling it fern, but I think of it as more of an olive. 100% cashmere and so cozy.
Jenni Kayne: Another from my personal collection (I love it so much I actually have it in 2 colors). I sized down in these because I wanted an oversized look, but I find their styling a bit sloppy. A lot of JK pieces are made in China which are harder to discern the manufacturing ethics, but these alpaca sweaters are made in Peru, which tends to be a bit more above board.
Janessa Leone: I’ve been drooling over this one since they came out with it last year (or maybe the year before?). The details on it look stunning and everything JL is always high quality. I have no doubt this would be a forever piece.
Ozma: This is my favorite cable-knit I’ve seen this season. Classic and cozy! I love the wider collar.
Tejido: If you live in a climate where vests make sense, I’m obsessed with this one. I love the shag design and the length of this one feels like it could be both outerwear or just a layer.
Alex Mill: This is actually a men’s sweater, but there’s no reason it can’t be for women (just size down). If you’re going to invest in a color this season, red is the way to go. It’s such a fun pop and will be great around the holidays.
Suzi Kondi: I tried this one on in the Hamptons this summer and fell in love. The blue is perfect and the softness off the charts. If you are a blue person, you’ll love this one!
Donni: Another version of red, but this one is a little longer and has a v-neck. I’m really drawn to this one and knowing how soft the Donni sweaters I have are, I know this one will be great too.
Everlane: I’ve had this v-neck for a few years now and it’s still a great staple. Everlane does lightweight cashmere at a great price.
Eleven Six: I love this small business! She has some really fun designs, but of course this oatmeal sweater is the one I’m most drawn to. :)
Donni: I’ve talked about this one before. I love the chocolate brown. It’s one of the few sweaters that are coming with me to Florida since it’s cotton.
Ozma: Another Ozma sweater that makes cold weather feel appealing! I love the texture on this one. Another piece you’ll have forever.
Mirth: I tried this sweater on last fall and it was even better in person. If you’re looking for a cardigan you can wear open or closed, this one is perfect. It’s truly a masterpiece.
Alex Mill: This is a lighter weight knit that would be great in warmer climates…definitely on my radar!
Babaa: This is one of my all time favorite knitwear brands. Everything is made in Spain and is just so good. I am linking a classic pullover in a perfect shade of brown, but truly you can’t go wrong with Babaa.
Lauren Manoogian: I have a roll-neck sweater by Lauren from a few seasons ago that I still adore. This one is the most similar that I could find to the one I have.
Sold Out NYC: This turtleneck is one of my favorite tops I own. It’s a cashmere blend and so lightweight. I can’t say enough about how much I love this one!
Just Add Caramel Suede
The highlight of this week for me has been the re-launch of our beloved Caramel Suede bags. This color is so special. It’s so rich and complements all of your fall tones so well. One of the things I love about it so much is how it instantly makes a whole outfit. I’m going to show you 3 outfits you no doubt have in your closet and how adding the caramel suede instantly takes it from basic to chic.
Look 1: Jeans & a White Tee Shirt
A tried and true classic outfit is instantly elevated with the use of Caramel Suede. A casual/comfortable look doesn’t have to be boring!
Look 2: Jeans and a Sweater
The first look is the Lauren Manoogian sweater look from above. I love outfits that don’t take much thought. Jeans, any good sweater, and just add your Caramel Suede. I mean how good is the Caramel Suede with cream and black?!
Look 3: All Black/ Work Wear
I think Caramel Suede is so striking against black - especially with the subtle brass details. If you’re someone who goes in the office, I love this as inspo - just sub a button down if you need to be a bit more formal.
As I am finishing this post (it’s now Thursday), I found out our house in Naples wasn’t flooded and we have power, so I’ll be hitting the road tomorrow. I’ll share more about that next week!
xo,
Abby

Love all the sweaters Abby! And that caramel suede is perfection!
