A Little Bit of Everything
The DNC, outfits lately, everything my bf and I have been doing to soak up summer
There’s a chill in the morning air here in Chicago, which is signaling fall is around the corner. It makes me think of high school field hockey tryouts - that perfect blend of excitement and anticipation.
Last week/weekend felt like the perfect way to start the summer to fall transition. I went to the Bear’s pre-season game with a friend of mine who has season tickets. Minus all the injuries, there’s nothing better than football. The Bears are featured on this year’s pre-season Hard Knocks, which is so fun! I don’t want to put too much pressure on the Bears/our rookie quarterback, so even if the Bears don’t have a great season, I’m looking forward to following football from the lens of my two fantasy teams. I share one with my dad, which has been a tradition forever and have a team in a league with my cousins, which is always good fun.

My boyfriend is going back to Scotland in a couple of weeks, so we’re soaking in all the Chicago summer things while we can. We went on the architecture tour, saw Ferris Buehler in Millenium Park (on Tuesday), and dining al fresco as much as possible. The architecture tour is always a good time. Whether you listen to every single detail about the buildings or just enjoy the view, it’s worth doing for locals as much as tourists!
We also saw It Ends With Us in the theater. Are you going to see it? And if so, did you read the book first? I read the book and loved it, and I have to say, I think the movie really captured the essence of the book well. Of course the book was better because there’s so much more detail and character development, but I really enjoyed the movie. All the drama surrounding the movie is a little off-putting - I don’t really know what to make of the situation, so I’m ignoring it. :)
Before we saw the movie, we went to a new Italian restaurant, Girasole, across from the theater and had the rooftop all to ourselves. The meal was delicious and the service was even better!
On Sunday my mom, sisters, and I went to Lakeside, Michigan for the day. This has been an annual tradition for my mom and me because we’re slightly obsessed with AP Shop. We always walk away with the most gorgeous pieces. Ariane, the owner, is the best in the business for finding great small, independent designers, which is right up our alley. ;) This is the first year my sisters joined us and I have a feeling going forward they’ll be joining us in the years to come! Some of our favorite spots in and around Lakeside (other than AP) are: Sojourn, Whistle Stop, Black Currant Bakehouse, Alapash, Greenbush Brewing, and Window Shopping.

Another exciting thing happening in Chicago is the DNC. It feels like such a historic moment. The speakers have been so good - Michelle Obama and Oprah were just fantastic. They are legends! And I can’t get over the Walz family - sweet Gus gushing over his dad. What a family! It’s been really nice to see how the democrats are taking back patriotism and the idea of freedom as American, not just for one party. I’m so excited about the Harris/Walz ticket! What about you? And side note - it’s totally ok if you disagree with me. I respect your opinion and hope you respect mine.
Finally, here are a few outfits I’ve been wearing lately, all of which are inspired from last week’s post about transitional dressing.

Early fall is the best time of year! Curious about your long beige cotton cardigan.. can you share details? Thanks! I’ve been looking for something like that for a very long time.
Sounds like so much fun! I need to do that architecture tour; I’ve heard such great things about it !
Great outfits too 🤩
